We spent a few years discussing getting the basement finished. We talked to friend-contractors, friend-of-friend-contractors and some very local handymen that claimed to do basement finishes. We (read: husband) were not very serious about getting the job done so the process dragged on and it was more annoying than anything. Said contractors were the opposite of helpful. We (read: I) finally decided it was time to get serious about it. I did some research and called several highly rated contractors. Mind you, not everyone was interested in taking on our project, simply because we live in a small town (10m outside of the big city). Everlasting Victorians (Chris) came to our initial meeting with a folder of awesomeness! He brought accreditations, certificates, ratings and recommendations from previous/current customers. He patiently listened to all I was expecting to have done and made suggestions on how it can be achieved within my fairly small budget. He measured and created a complete plan (blueprint) for the project on the spot. He, easily, blew the competition out of the water. Parts of the construction were a little unnerving – various sub-contractors coming in and out and the post-apocalyptic state of the whole thing. Chris (repeatedly) assured me that it will be fantastic when it’s all done and took care, of the few concerns I had, promptly. And it absolutely is fantastic! He is a perfectionist and will ensure that the final product is beyond quality expectations. I appreciate having a competent professional, with highly discriminating standards, on my side. Chris has earned my absolute respect and recommendation.
